Chris Wood: Nottingham Forest striker signs two-year deal with Premier League club | Football News

Chris Wood has signed a new two-year contract with Nottingham Forest.

Wood has scored 14 goals in 22 Premier League games this season, helping lift Nottingham Forest up to third in the table.

The New Zealand international’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but he has now followed centre-back Murillo in committing his future to Nottingham Forest.

“You can see the dream and ambition this club has,” Wood told Sky Sports News.

“We’ve had a great start to the season, now midway through. We’ve got a lot more to achieve and strive towards.

“But I think this club, the ownership, the staff, and the players, and the fans, have a lot they want to achieve and to grow into a great club again.

“I’m full of confidence and there is a lot of belief instilled in me from the manager down to my team-mates.

“It’s the biggest confidence-booster for a striker [to score goals]. You’ve still got to do the hard work for the team and make sure your other team-mates are doing well at the same time, but it’s a great confidence-booster when you are scoring goals.”

Nuno delighted with Murillo new deal

Murillo spoke exclusively to Sky Sports

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s trip to Bournemouth, Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo said he was thrilled to be able to count on Murillo going forward after the Brazilian penned a deal until 2029.

“I think it’s a player with immense talent,” Nuno said.

“He can improve immensely due to his age. I think he joined us last season and improvement is there.

Nottingham Forest are prepared to break a club record in order to sign Matheus Cunha, however other Premier League clubs are monitoring the player – including Arsenal

“I think as long as he keeps himself healthy and available, it’s going to be great.

“It’s good for us. Essentially, it’s good for us that our players that are here are happy, motivated and committed.

“There’s no doubt. There’s no player in our squad that doesn’t have this feeling of improvement, commit themselves to compete well. Murillo is just another one.

“He’s just another one. He’s not assigned to anybody. The core of the squad is what it is, and they have to be happy and play good and compete well.

“This is what we want. Our priority is the players that are here. Those are the ones that achieve good results and want to go and try and compete the best that we can.”
