A clash between Tom Creen and Master Breffni headlines today’s proceedings from Sedgefield – with all seven races live on Sky Sports Racing.
2.35 Sedgefield – Tom Creen and Master Breffni clash
Sam England’s Tom Creen scored for the fifth time at this track when successful here on Boxing Day. Dropped in distance, he must prove as effective at this trip but a 3lb rise in the weights looks fair.
Master Breffni is yet to win in six attempts over fences but showed plenty when second at Catterick last month and looks a likely player under Conor O’Farrell.
The James Ewert-trained Hold Onto The Line was third at Musselburgh on Sunday and a similar effort would see him go well under Brian Hughes.
4.35 Sedgefield – Winds Of Inter and Addosh among 11 runners
James Owen has enjoyed a tremendous campaign both on the flat and over jumps and he saddles topweight Addosh. Fit from the flat, she drops in class having struggled the last twice and Ben Bromley claims a handy 5lbs.
Winds Of Winter remains a maiden after elevens starts over jumps but showed plenty of promise when third on chase debut at Musselburgh. She reverts to hurdles here and rates an each-way chance for Brian Hughes and Iain Jardine.
Of the others, Love True finished an excellent second on her penultimate start and will hope to bounce back from a fall at Catterick. The step back to two miles one furlong should suit, with Henry Brooke retaining the ride.
2.05 Sedgefield – Zwicky and Twp Stori contest competitive handicap
Twp Stori doubled his tally over hurdles when taking a Lingfield handicap on his penultimate start before running with credit when fourth at Uttoxeter. He looks ready for this step up in distance and is fancied to go close under Gavin Sheehan.
Philip Kirby saddles Zwicky who has three course wins to his name and having chased home Catch Catchfire here last month, he must be noted off the same mark.
The Questioner and Dequall complete the shortlist.
